Macau International Airport (IATA: MFM) is the main air gateway to Macau, located on the eastern side of Taipa Island and built on reclaimed land extending into the Pearl River Delta. Opened in 1995, it was designed as a 24 hour airport to support Macau's tourism driven economy, with a 3,360 meter runway capable of handling wide body aircraft and challenging cross winds common to the region. The airport serves as a key hub for Air Macau and connects the city to major destinations across mainland China, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Japan. Its compact but efficient terminal offers immigration e-channels, duty free shopping, lounges, and seamless links to Taipa via buses, taxis, and the Macau Light Rapid Transit. Despite its size, MFM handles over 7 million passengers in strong tourism years and plays a crucial role in supporting Macau's casino, hospitality, and convention industries.
