Before Security Smoking

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals next to the entrance or next to the entrance to the airport terminal building on the panoramic terrace of the De Horizon restaurant

After Security Smoking

2026, March, feedback from Tolga.: There is a terrace after security check including smoking area. Also there another terrace with smoking area after passport control. Best airport experience ever

Update, Nov 2019: There is an outdoor smoking area on the ground floor after check in and security on the ground floor.

It's partially covered from rain but not cold, and can be found on the left side before the n=Non-Schengen gates, fairly well signed.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM), located just northwest of Rotterdam, is the third busiest airport in the Netherlands, serving both Rotterdam and The Hague with efficient access to major European business hubs and popular leisure destinations. Originally opened in 1956 as Zestienhoven Airport to replace the WWII damaged Waalhaven airfield, it has since evolved into a modern regional gateway offering a streamlined passenger experience. The airport features a single functional terminal, a 2,199 meter asphalt runway, and a wide range of amenities including shops, dining venues, ATMs, conference rooms, and a panorama terrace for aircraft viewing. RTM is a key base for Transavia, while also hosting airlines such as TUI fly Netherlands, British Airways, and Pegasus Airlines, collectively connecting travelers to over 50 European destinations. With ongoing terminal upgrades, sustainability initiatives, and strong public transport links, RTM remains a convenient and increasingly popular alternative to Amsterdam Schiphol.
