Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) is one of the two major airports serving Shanghai, located about 13 km west of the city center.
Opened in 1929, Hongqiao is primarily a hub for domestic flights, though it also handles some international routes to nearby regions such as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. It features two terminals: Terminal 1, which serves both domestic and limited international flights, and Terminal 2, dedicated mainly to domestic services. The airport is a hub for China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Juneyao Air, and Air China, and in 2023 it handled over 42 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in China. Conveniently connected to the Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, it offers seamless integration between air and high-speed rail travel, making it a vital transport hub for the Yangtze River Delta region.
