Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) is the main international gateway to Chongqing, one of southwestern China’s largest cities, and handled over 50 million passengers in 2025, making it one of the country’s busiest airports.
Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is located in Liangjiang, about 19–24 km northeast of central Chongqing, and has grown rapidly since its opening in 1990. It serves as a major aviation hub in western China, hosting airlines such as China Express, China Southern (via Chongqing Airlines), Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and West Air, while also acting as a focus city for Air China, Shandong Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, and XiamenAir. The airport has undergone several major expansions, including the development of Terminal 3A, a new satellite terminal (T3B), and a fourth runway, all completed by 2025 to support its growing traffic.
CKG features multiple long runways—3,200 m, 3,600 m, 3,800 m, and 3,400 m—capable of handling large aircraft and high‑frequency operations. Its terminals are divided primarily between Terminal 3A (international and some domestic flights) and Terminal 2 (domestic flights), though Terminal 2 has undergone renovation and temporary closures in recent years. The airport connects passengers to over 160–200 destinations worldwide, supported by dozens of domestic and international carriers.
Recognized for its service quality, Chongqing Jiangbei Airport earned ACI’s Best Airport award in its size category in 2017 and 2018, reflecting its strong passenger experience and operational standards. With modern facilities, extensive transport links—including metro lines, airport buses, and express services—and ongoing infrastructure upgrades, CKG continues to strengthen its role as a key aviation hub in China’s rapidly developing southwest region.
