Zvartnots International Airport (IATA: EVN) is Armenia’s main international gateway, located about 15 km west of Yerevan in the town of Zvartnots. Opened in 1961, it has grown into the country’s busiest airport and a major hub for airlines such as Armenia Airways, FlyOne Armenia, Novair, and Shirak Avia, with Wizz Air using it as an operating base. The airport features a 3,850‑meter runway, modern terminals, and extensive upgrades completed between the 2000s and 2010s, including new arrivals and departures halls, expanded parking, and improved fire‑fighting facilities. In 2025, Zvartnots handled over 5.6 million passengers, reflecting strong growth in Armenia’s tourism sector. It has also earned regional recognition, including being named “Best Airport in the CIS” in 2013. Recent developments include a planned $500 million expansion to accommodate rising passenger numbers and the withdrawal of Russian border guards in 2024–2025.
