Laos enforces one of the strictest vaping bans in the world, with a total prohibition on the import, export, sale, distribution, and use of e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products, and shisha under amendments to the National Tobacco Control Law introduced in 2021.  products.

Authorities have intensified enforcement, conducting inspections across retail stores, markets, bars, and hotels, where illegal products are confiscated and removed. Recent crackdowns such as the joint Ministry of Health, WHO, and Meta operation that shut down 288 online vape stores with over 759,599 members demonstrate a zero tolerance approach to violations. Penalties are being strengthened under an updated Prime Minister's Decree, adding stricter sanctions for illegal import, sale, online promotion, and use of e-cigarettes, as well as for selling to minors and violating smoke free area rules.
