From August, 1st, all persons returning to Belgium and all persons travelling through Belgium and who are staying at least 48 hours must fill out an  identification form (Passenger Locator Form).

Update from Nazz, Dec 2021: Above gates 18/19 there is a catering area. From there you can go out onto the outdoor terrace to smoke.

Update froim Anonymous, Aug 2021: I would like to report that the smoking area after security between gate 22 and 23 is open again.

Update from Manda: at the food court, after control, big terrace outside with table and outdoor smoking area. (open the 14 June 2021)

Warning: Update from Anonymous, Aug 2020: the smoking area between terminal 22 and the passway to terminal 25 on the open-air bridge is closed for smoking. Ash trays are removed and signs are hanging up.

Update, Nov 2019 from Rohr A, There is a smoking area on the first floor near the lounge.

Update from Catalin on the 10th Aug 2019: There is a smoking area  in Charleroi airport between terminal 22 and the passway to terminal 25 on the open-air bridge

For connecting flights you may need to leave the terminal and enter Belgium and smoke outside terminal then go through Security again for your flight.
